June - House Rock

We enjoyed House Rock so much we came back again.  We were lucky enough to get site #5 again, and this time Liana and Jason, Jake and Tammy, and Amelia and Elowen joined us the second night.  Once again we had weather in the 8o's.  The guys jumped in the river (as did Seth and Erik last time) but it's so cold, I just couldn't do it.  Brrrr! Five Stars for this little campground.  (Sorry, no pictures this time.)

May - House Rock

Went to House Rock in May, meeting up with our friends the Millers.  A nice small campground off of highway 20, we found a wonderful little campsite (#5) with its own private path down to a beach by the river.  The weather was warm (mid eighties) and very relaxing.  Lots of carpenter ants, but that was the only negative thing to be said of this site.  Only an hour and a half from Corvallis it's a small ideal place to get away.  Lots of hiking trails to be found and a nice little beach to hang out on.  Really cold water though.  Just lovely.

April - Tyee Campground

For April we traveled south a little ways to meet up with some good friends of ours, the Stumbo's.  They live in Medford so we looked for a place between us and ended up at a little campground near Elkton (just south of Roseburg) called Tyee Campground.   A small campground in a lovely wooded area near a river, it really was a nice place to camp.  Very quiet, other than the river and the highway across the river (which wasn't very busy, so it was not as bad as it sounds.)  The weather was uncharacteristically warm (in the high sixties and low fifties at night.)  Although small the hosts were friendly and kind and we spent a nice afternoon throwing horseshoes in the day use area.  The guys took our canoe down the river...and capsized...not sure I would recommend this place for canoeing!  They thought it was "awesome" though.  All in all, a great place to spend a weekend.

March 2013 - Tumalo State Park

Cold but clear, a beautiful weekend.  20 degrees at night, low 50's in the day.  We took a nice bike ride into Tumalo, the last real bike ride I took while pregnant with Sequoia.  It wasn't overly long, about 10 miles, but long enough.  The scenery is lovely, and the river is beautiful.  In the summer it's a nice place to swim as well.  As it was, we enjoyed our time there and being only 20 minutes from Bend was nice as well. 
   On Sunday we joined Evan and Katie, Jake and Tammy and stayed in a cabin one night along the Metolious River.  Lovely time together.  I give Tumalo State Park four stars out of five.

February - Champoeg State Park

We stayed in a yurt this weekend.  It was nice and comfortable, though next time I would choose E or F instead of A, since it is so far from the bathrooms.  We visited the Newberg public pool Saturday afternoon - fun, but the pool water was pretty cold.
    We had just a little rain the first night, and then it was cloudy but dry the rest of the time, with a bit of sun in the afternoons.  Pretty aread, but it had a pretty busy disc golf area.  Lots of people passing through for the day.  I give it 3 and a half stars out of 5.

January 2013 - Stub Stewart State Park

It was a mere 17 -22 degrees all night long, and though chilly, with out new tent heater and a pile of clothes we stayed relatively warm.  We had no snow, just freezing fog, cold and clear all weekend long.  Beautiful, but cold.  If you want to hike, this might be a nice place to go, but since Mikaiah only made it 1/4 mile (not even onto the main trail) before being "done hiking" I don't really know.  Other than hiking there is not much to do, but it is a pretty area.  Probably won't be a big repeat place.  In other news though, this was our first time using our new Kingdom 6 tent and camping kitchen Jim made us for Christmas.  Both were wonderful.
